Discussion Points

From the beginning of time God has always done things to help us. He loves us so much that he thought of everything that we would ever want and gave it to us. In Gen 2:20, God saw that man was lonely and so He gave him a companion out of his own flesh. The first proof that He always wants happiness for all of us. When Adam and Eve fell into sin, the gates of Eden were closed, but not without a plan of salvation for all of us.

God continually reached out to us through the covenants that He had made with Noah, Abraham, Moses and David. Each time the covenant grows to include more people. Each covenant brings us closer to a truer worship. A truer communion with God.

In Psalm 23 focuses on what God is doing for us, yet we should also focus on the kind of trust that is due Our Lord. Everything in that passage is possible if we only give our trust to Him. Like the lambs of the Good Shepherd, they do not know where they are being led, but they trust Him and go wherever He leads them.

We are truly blessed. An ever loving God that has given us His only Son, so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. We who offend God everyday of our lives are given a gift who is so innocent and meek, He accepted His own terrible fate with love and mercy for our salvation. Can we say God loves us to the point of folly?

The Holy Eucharist, a sign of God’s eternal love for us that He offers himself to us everyday as a sacrifice for our sins. The final covenant, His eternal sacrifice is repeated at every mass for Him to reach out to as many people as possible. He truly loves us and dearly wants to commune with us. "It is not enough that Christ died and bled for our sake. Now we have a part to play. As with the Old covenant, so with the New. If you want to mark your covenant with God, to seal your covenant with God, to renew your covenant with God, you have to eat the Lamb- the paschal lamb Who is our unleavened bread. Scott Hahn from The Lamb’s Supper"

The Blessed Mother, her intercessions on our behalf have given us blessings beyond comprehension. If God has a weakness, it would be His obedience to His Mother. "Through her he applies his merits to his members and through her he transmits his virtues and distributes his graces. She is his mystical channel, his aqueduct, through which he causes his mercies to flow gently and abundantly. True Devotion to Mary by St. Louis de Montfort"

"But I tell you the truth: it is expedient to you that I go. For if I go not, the Paraclete will not come to you: but if I go, I will send him to you. And when he is come, he will convince the world of sin and of justice and of judgment. John 16:17-18" The Paraclete, the Helper, the third Person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, all the names of the One who dwells within us to help us see the truth, the way of righteousness, and to the Judgment.

Everyday in our lives we are faced with moral dilemmas, discontent, suffering, hate, sadness, anger, jealousy, gossips, etc. It is no wonder that we try to compensate with wealth, food and anything that makes us happy. But are we truly happy? Consider what St. Augustine said "Our hearts are restless, until they rest in You, O God". We will continue to look for happiness in anything, but our heart’s desire for happiness will not be quenched until our desires are turned towards God.
